Yes! This IS for songwriters!
When Susan Tucker
of The
Songwriter's Connection approached me about reviewing books
dealing
with another area of our lives, self-improvement, I eagerly
accepted! While songwriting is my PASSION, it's also important
for me to have a balanced life in order to keep the creativity
flowing. As a songwriter I need to keep an open mind to
other ideas / cultures in this world of ours to help me be as creative
with words and music as I can be. So, in addition to reviews of
songwriting books, I'll occasionally review books on self-improvement.
When I was 16, in
the midst of developing my craft on writing songs and
poetry, I became interested in psychology, specifically in the area of
motivational behavior. (I know, quite a mixture, but hey, it
worked for me!). It ended up being one of the degrees I earned in
college, and the "business" part of me served as a consultant / trainer
in Leadership Motivation & Personal Inspiration early in my
career. My personal library is overflowing with books on the
subject, which led me to read "Clear Your Clutter With Feng Shui"
(pronounced Fung Shway). My bookshelves and filing cabinets were
beginning to bulge under the load of more and more (but NOT necessarily
better and better)! Along came "Clear Your Clutter ..." and I'm
having a GREAT time lightening the load ... AND becoming more creative!
Our "writing space"
is probably one of the most precious places we
have, and yet how many of us have sat down to write and found our desk
cluttered with papers, magazines, letters to reply to (right away!),
bills to pay (whenever we darn well feel like it!), and post-it-notes
galore to remind us of a myriad of other "important" things to do or
people to call. I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE!!! "Clear Your
Clutter with Feng Shui" helped me organize my desk, and in general, my
life, and I'm already receiving the benefits.
If you think feng
shui isn't for songwriters, give Kenny Loggins a
call. He ABSOLUTELY believes in it, and what an amazing career
he's had!
